The IPPC treatment is an international standard to prevent the spread of pests found in solid wood.
The import regulations "ISPM 15" for wooden packaging became effective in 2003. They stipulate that solid wood packaging imported to the EU from Non-EU States or imported from EU States to one of the Member States of ISPM must be IPPC treated. Within the EU and for plastic or INKA pallets, IPPC treatment is not required.
During heat treatment, pallets are heated for at least 30 minutes to a temperature of 56°C and dried to exterminate any potential pests in the wood.
Heat-treated pallets are recognized by their IPPC marking on the centre block.
